Bodyslam Technique Workshop Intensive Curriculum

Begin with the Class Curriculum:

A.       Basic Techniques & Theory

B.       Introduction to Workshop Intensive

II.                   Begin Workshop Excercises:

A.       From Squatee – using all safe spots on the body

a.        Falling forward

b.        Falling to the side

c.        Falling backward

B.       From Standing

a.        Falling forward

b.        Falling to the side

c.        Falling backward

C.       With a small jump up

a.        Falling forward

b.        Falling to the side

c.        Falling backward

D.       Rolls – pointed feet vs. flexed “Active Feet”

a.        Use the feet like hands

b.        Roll into a hop/hover and catch yourself

c.        From pushup position, release down, roll and hop into another pushup position – feet flexed and active.

E.       Rebound Theory

F.       Buoyant Hips – headlights on hips

a.        Lead with the hips exercise

G.       Rib Isolation – separation helps contort body and lead it into the direction you want to go.

H.       Strike stance – gravity position “Ready” position

a.        Stomp exercise with vocalizations with Rebound Theory vs. Stop action theory

b.        Squat exercises that go into strike positions – keeping the legs like rubber bands – rebounding all the time.

V.                   Teach Breakbone Bodyslam Technique Phrases from Company Repertoire

A.       Headcleaner core phrase

B.       Logotype 03 phrase

C.       New phrases created for the workshop depending on level of the participants

VI.                 Individual Choreographic Section

A.       Workshop Participants will create their own phrase in movement based off of instructions or emotions given by the leader

B.       The created phrase will be inserted with Bodyslam Technique skills for more dynamics and intensity

C.       Informal showing - there will be a “performance” of phrases shown to workshop participants only

D.      Choreographic Sequence – one or two of the phrases will be choreographed together by the leader and shown as a choreographic statement in the Bodyslam Technique.
